Apple's Reaction Effects

Apple's macOS 14 Sonoma adds system-wide animation reaction effects triggered by gestures.

Updated over a week ago

Beginning in macOS 14 Sonoma, Apple's Video menu offers reaction effects triggered by gestures. (For example a thumbs-up gesture triggers a cartoon thumb animation.)

Ecamm Live users may not want these unexpected animations added to their video productions.

To turn off gestures, click the Video menu in the top-right corner of your display. Note that this menu only shows up when a compatible camera is running.

In the Video menu, the green reaction icon indicates that the Reactions feature is active. To de-activate it, click the green icon.

If you have multiple compatible camera, be sure to turn off reaction gestures for each camera. To access settings for other cameras, click the name of each camera in the Video menu.
