Dual Mode (Beta)

Updated yesterday

Using Dual Mode in Ecamm

Dual Mode lets you design, stream, and/or record horizontal and vertical video at the same time with full creative control over each format. One session, two intentional outputs.

This feature is currently in beta testing. To try it out, visit https://www.ecamm.com/beta

How to Use Dual Mode

Turning On Dual Mode

To enable Dual Mode in Ecamm Beta:

Options > Video Shape > Dual Mode (Horizontal & Vertical)

Once Dual Mode is enabled, Ecamm displays horizontal and vertical canvases side by side, allowing you to design each layout independently.

When you go live or record, Ecamm will stream and/or record both formats simultaneously.

You can switch between Dual Mode and regular mode while you’re using the Beta version.

That said, we strongly recommend exporting or duplicating important Profiles before turning on Dual Mode for two reasons:

  1. Returning to the non-Beta app after using Dual Mode
Dual Mode scenes aren’t compatible with the non-Beta version, so your scenes will need re-arranging if you switch back.

  2. General Beta best practices
This feature is still in Beta, and as with any Beta software, there’s a small chance it could impact your existing scenes. Backing up your profiles ensures you can restore them if needed.

Live Streaming with Dual Mode

Dual Mode adds a new option to your live stream setup workflow. When creating a new broadcast in Ecamm, you’ll see a new menu that lets you choose how your stream is delivered to each streaming destination:

  • Horizontal

  • Vertical

  • Horizontal & Vertical

Selecting Horizontal & Vertical will create two broadcasts on that platform, one for each shape.
